Attorney Chien, commonly known as Polly, was born, grew up, and attended college in Taiwan. She first came to the U.S. as an international student and later immigrated by petitioning on behalf of her husband via one of the self-petition Green Card options. Polly has lived, went to school, and worked in Denver CO, Washington D.C., Pittsburgh PA and Greenville NC and developed connections across the U.S.
Polly earned her Master’s Degree from University of Denver in Economic Development doing comparative studies on women’s roles in immigrant communities. She later went to law school because she wanted to be an immigration attorney and advocate for the rights of her immigrant friends. During the law school, she was actively involved in the Immigration Law School Clinic and Legal Services at Jewish Family Center. She graduated from University of Pittsburgh School of Law with Community Service Award in 2012 and practiced in immigration law for several years in Pittsburgh PA before moving to Greenville NC for her husband’s job at East Carolina University. Eastern NC is now her permanent home and she’s dedicated to serving immigrant communities and business enterprises in North Carolina.
As an immigrant herself, Polly easily understands and relates to immigrant clients and their concerns. She understands the personal and professional importance of obtaining an appropriate visa for themselves and their workers and vigorously represents clients to meet their goals. Attorney Chien’s immigration law practice has focused on the following areas:
- Employment-based Green Card petitions (EB-1, EB-2 & EB-3) and self-petition options;
- Nonimmigrant visas such as B-1/2, H-1B, H-2B, L-1, E-1/2, TN, O, P and other types of nonimmigrant visa options;
- Other change of status and bridging the gap issues.
Attorney Chien speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese. She joined Fickey Martinez Law Firm as an Of Counsel in 2019 handling the employment-based immigration practice. In 2020, she became an Of Counsel to Attorney Herhusky’s practice.
